Two Million and 136 Thousand Dirhams from the Zakat Fund for Students at Al Ain
Source: Zakat Fund Media 27/6/2010 The Zakat Fund continues to provide assistance within the project (Read) sponsored by the Fund to alleviate the suffering of needy students, as part of the plan of the second quarter of 2010, as the Zakat Fund presented two million and 136 thousand dirhams to Al-Ain Educational Zone for the payment of the needy students tuition fees. His Excellency Abdullah Oqeidah Al-Muheiry, Secretary-General of the Zakat Fund handed over a check with the value of two million and 136 thousand dirhams to Al-Ain Educational Zone, to Dr. Mugheer Khamees Al-Khaili General Manager of Abu Dhabi Council for Education, as part of the (Read) project, sponsored by the Zakat Fund through the Bank of the poor and needy channel of distribution. The Fund had previously presented three million and 470 thousand dirhams during the first quarter of the year under the (Read) charitable project. Abdullah Al-Muheiry stated: The Read Project aims to provide a secure environment for the students in need in the UAE including citizens and non-citizens to help them avoid being distracted from knowledge collection, so the Fund attaches great importance to this project. We do remember the words of the Prophet (peace be upon him): "Whoever seeks a way to knowledge will have a way to heaven made easy for him by Allah, and the angels put their wings for satisfaction of the seeker of knowledge, and a scholar will have those in heaven and on earth pray for forgiveness for him, even whales in the water. The merit of a knowledgeable person over a worshipper is like the merit of the moon over the rest of planets. Scholars are the heirs of prophets, and the prophets did not leave behind dinars and dirhams but knowledge, so whoever accepts knowledge will have received an abundant share." The Zakat payer will surely have the same reward for collecting knowledge like the student receiving the assistance, because a person who guides to good deeds will be like the a doer thereof." On his part, Dr. Mugheer Al-Khaili expressed his pleasure for the role played by the Zakat Fund in assisting the students and providing good environment for facilitating study without suffering, to help them avoid any financial problems that may stop them from continuing their education. Al- Khaili added: Since its inception the Zakat Fund presented many charitable and social projects for the benefit of the society as a whole, providing valuable services to both the UAE citizens and non-citizens alike, and extending the scope of well-being throughout the UAE. The Fund is expanding the (Read) project by including the category of university students to help them complete their university education, which has already started this academic year with 30 cases accepted during the first quarter of the year, of a target of 50 students for this year, Allah willing.
The (Read) project is one of the first projects the Fund has worked to realize for its deep belief in the importance of education, motivated Allah's first command to Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, where Allah Almighty said to him: "Read.".
