The Zakat Fund Offers 183 Thousand Dirhams to Students
Within its plan for the second quarter of 2010, the Zakat Fund continues to provide assistance, within the project “Read”, to alleviate the suffering of needy students, as it offered about 183 thousand dirhams to the Knowledge and Human Development Authority at Dubai to pay the school fees on behalf of the needy students. At the Fund's headquarters in Abu Dhabi, Sheikha Al-Nu'aimy, Head of the Social Research Section in the Fund, presented a check with the value of 183 thousand dirhams to the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, and handed it to Dr. Haya Ibrahim Bin Sufyan, Director of Support Services in the School Education Institution, as part of the project “Read” sponsored by the Zakat Fund under the channel of the poor and needy. The Read Project aims to provide a secure environment for the students in need in the UAE including citizens and non-citizens so as not to be distracted from knowledge collection, so the Fund attaches great importance to this project, whose idea is derived from Allah's first command to Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, where Allah Almighty said: "Read."
Within same framework, the Fund is expanding the “Read” project by including the category of university students to help them complete their university education, which has already started this academic year with 29 cases accepted during the first quarter of the year, of the target of 50 students for this year, Allah willing. The “Read” Project is one of the earthliest projects adopted by the Fund out of the Fund's belief in the importance of education, and during the present year, the fund offered about three million and 470 thousand dirhams to school students.
