Within the framework of its vital role in the area of Islamic Finance, Al-Wifaq Finance Co., a company specialized in finance solutions that conform to the principles of Shari’a, and an affiliate of the Union National Bank, presented 6.4 dirhams to the Zakat fund, to be utilized in financing a range of charity projects.
Sheikh Nahayan Bin Mubarak Al-Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Chairman of the Union National Bank group presented a check with the value of 6.4 million dirhams to Dr. Hadif Bin Jaw’an Al-Dhahiry, Minister of Justice, and Chairman of the Zakat Fund Board of Directors, in the presence of representatives from the Company, the bank, the Zakat Fund, and the mass media.
The Zakat Fund Distributes Zakat Al-Fitr to the Recipients
The Zakat Fund completed the distribution of Zakat Al-Fitr (breakfast charity) to the registered families within the framework of its campaign for Ramadan launched under the slogan "My Zakat is their Shield.” HE Abdullah Bin Oqeidah Al-Muheiry stated that the distribution committees in the Fund have held many meeting since the beginning of Ramadan for approving the amounts to be distributed to the eligible cases studied by the staff of social research in the committee of Zakat beneficiaries, out of our keenness on extending support to the Zakat recipients from among the citizens and non-citizens.
A Memorandum of Understanding Dubai Customs and the Zakat Fund Together on the Path of Benevolence
Dubai Customs signed a memorandum of understanding with the Zakat Fund, concerning the Customs employees paying their Zakat and charity to the Fund with a view to having them distributed in their legal channels in accordance with the vision and experience of the Fund in this area, and for the purpose of coordination with the Fund in the area of charity work, to serve the UAE community through inter-institutional cooperation. The Zakat Fund Participates in the First Abu Dhabi Zakat Forum
The Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with the Zakat Fund, the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments, and the Red Crescent Authority organized the First Zakat Forum, which was held in the Intercontinental Hotel in Abu Dhabi. The forum was attended by Muhammad Omar Abdullah, Undersecretary of the Department of Economic Development; Abdullah Bin Oqeidah Al-Muheiry Secretary-General of the Zakat Fund; and a number of the representatives of ministries and government bodies, charity organizations, Islamic banks, and the leading private sector companies.
5 Million Dirhams to the Zakat Fund from Dubai Islamic Bank
Dubai Islamic Bank presented 5 million dirhams from the Zakat amounts to the Zakat Fund, during the reception of His Excellency Abdul-Razzaq Al-Abdullah, CEO of Dubai Islamic Humanitarian Institution by HE Dr. Hadif Bin Jaw'an Al-Dhahiry, Minister of Justice, and Chairman of the Zakat Fund; and HE Abdullah Bin Oqeidah Al-Muheiry, Secretary-General of the Fund at the Fund's headquarters at Al-Musharraf area, Abu Dhabi.
Dr. Hadif praised the Bank's initiative pointing out that the Bank is a leading Islamic Institution and that its donation best reflects its philosophy and mission, which are based on extending the scope of goodness, and expressed his thanks for this donation which would serve a large category of the needy people.
The Zakat Fund Board of Directors Approves new Projects for Increasing Revenues
The Zakat Fund board of directors has approved new projects for increasing revenues like "Wadhakkir (Remind)!" project which aims to send a message every day carrying a hadith or ayah from the Qur'an to raise Zakat awareness and urge people to do good deeds; the Zakat Festival in the Marina Mall, and the Ramadan and Eid Festival in the Fair Land. HE Abdullah Bin Oqeidah Al-Muheiry, Secretary-General of the Zakat Fund stated that the Fund is planning to install ATM dispensers for the collection and disbursement of Zakat in the different Emirates in the coming period within the framework of the Fund's attempt to come close to people.
He pointed out that the Department of Zakat Resources and Information agreed on five new sites besides the six sites already installed in the Marina Mall, Abu Dhabi Financial Market, Abu Dhabi Cooperative Society (two ATMs at Al-Murour and Al-Bateen), and a dispenser at both Khaldiya Mall and Wihda Mall. The ATM service has already been launched in five sites, and Al-Bateen dispenser will operate next week. The new sites include two more dispensers at two of the branches of Abu Dhabi Cooperative Society, one dispenser at Al-Muheiry Center, one at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Abu Dhabi, and one in the western region of "Tamm".

180 thousand visitors of the mobile Zakat service since the foundation of the Zakat fund
The number of visitors of the “Mobile Zakat" service reached about 180 thousand visitors since the launch of the service, which is an indication of the success of the Fund's policy and strategies aiming to increase awareness and achieve the strategic objectives and the operational plan of the Fund. This came in the outset of the statement made by HE Abdullah Bin Oqeidah Al-Muheiry the Secretary General of the Zakat Fund on the distinguished service ‘Mobile Zakat’.
The Zakat Fund offers support to 54 new Muslims in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior
The Zakat Fund has provided support to the new Muslims, under the new Zakat channel (those whose hearts are reconciled to Islam). This came when His Excellency Abdullah Bin Oqeidah Al-Muheiry the Secretary General of the Zakat Fund received HE Brigadier Muhammad Saleh, Director of the Public Relations Department, Ministry of Interior, where Al-Muheiry presented a check of the value of 132 thousand and five hundred dirhams.
Discussing the working mechanisms between the Zakat Fund and the Red Crescent Authority
His Excellency Abdullah bin Oqeidah Al-Muheiry Secretary General of the Zakat Fund received HE Khalifa Muhammad Al-Qamzi the Secretary-General of the Red Crescent Authority at the Fund headquarters in Abu Dhabi and they discussed the friendly cooperation between the two sides. After the meeting, HE Abdullah Al-Muheiry, Secretary-General of the Zakat Fund stated that the Zakat Fund and the Red Crescent Authority adopt the goal of the dissemination of charity and helping the needy on the domestic level through the local activities of both, or on the international level like the activities of the Red Crescent Authority throughout the world. He explained that the Red Crescent best represents the United Arab Emirates through its distinguished humanitarian and social work inside and outside the UAE.
The Ministry of Interior and the Zakat Fund discuss the ways of providing assistance to inmates in cases of insolvent debt
Lieutenant General Saif Abdullah Al-Shaafar, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior met with Mr. Abdullah bin Oqeidah Al-Muheiry Secretary-General of the Zakat Fund at the Ministry headquarters. They discussed the ways of activating the memorandum of understanding signed between the Ministry and the Zakat Fund to provide assistance to inmates in cases of insolvent debt and blood money, as well as helping the families of those sentenced in criminal cases.
The Zakat Fund Alleviates the Suffering of Patients
The Zakat Fund has provided a hundred and eighty thousand dirhams to the project (Reward and Recovery), for alleviating the distress of the needy patients suffering disease and poverty. The Fund delivered checks of assistance to the Khalifa Hospital in Ajman, Kalba, and Khorfkan hospitals, and Al-Ihsan the medical center. The Zakat Fund in Abu Dhabi signs a memorandum of understanding with the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority
A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Zakat Fund and the Computer Security Incidents Response Team of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority concerning coordination and support of response to the cyberspace security incidents through which the response team will work as a contact point for reporting such incidents providing the Fund with the local and global cyberspace security risk analysis, and offering coordination and consulting services besides the related educational and awareness services.
Signing a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Zakat Fund and Takatuf Institution for Social Work
Yesterday, the Zakat Fund signed a memorandum of cooperation wit the Takatuf program for social work, a program of the Emirates Foundation for Social Service at the headquarters of the former in Abu Dhabi, by HE Abdullah bin Oqeidah Al-Muheiry the Secretary-General of the Fund and Maitha Al-Habsi, Manager of the Takatuf program. Objectives of the Memorandum The memorandum aims at promoting voluntary social work, activating partnerships between the various institutions of the civil society in the UAE and developing strategic initiatives for enhancing cooperation in the activities concerned with the support and encouragement of volunteerism and community development. In addition, it is also an addition to the efforts of the Fund and the program to promote the concepts of social responsibility among individuals, and support for the activities and programs in both directions for the common good of the citizens. The memorandum aims to strengthen and consolidate the efforts of both parties to ensure the active participation of volunteers in the Takatuf activities in various parts of the UAE through holding courses, workshops and training for volunteers, to enhance their abilities and skills and to ensure achievement of the objectives of the two parties. Cooperation will be initiated through the project “Takatuf in Ramadan”, where volunteers shall enlist the Zakat beneficiaries and then distribute Zakat to the eligible families in accordance with the standards set by the Fund.
