Al-Ihsan Charity Center Honors the Zakat Fund for its Outstanding Charitable Role
Source: The Zakat Fund Media 25/2/2010 A delegation from Al-Ihsan Charity Center at Ajman, headed by Abdullah Al-Jadi, Manager of the Financial and Administrative Affairs, Manager of Resources Development; and Dr. Hakki Ismail, Manager of Al-Ihsan Medical Complex, paid an honorary visit to the headquarters of the Zakat Fund, where they were received by Jamal Al-Mazru'i, Manager of the Zakat Revenues and Information Department; and Muhammad Sulayman Al-Ballushi, Manager of the Zakat Beneficiaries Department. The delegation presented the Center's shield and a certificate of appreciation to the Fund in recognition of the distinct role of the Zakat Fund played in collaboration with the Center for the enrichment of charitable work in Ajman.
The Zakat Fund Pays the Tuition Fees for 282 Students in Umm Al-Quwain
Source: Al-Ittihad Newspaper, p.17 – El-Emarat El-Youm Newspaper, p. 3 – Al-Khaleej 2, p. 7 – Wednesday, 24/2/2010 The Zakat Fund and the Red Crescent Authority paid the fees owed by 282 students at Umm Al-Quwain under the Project, sponsored by the Fund in collaboration with the Authority, as part of their efforts to expand the humanitarian and charitable programs and projects falling under the Zakat channels of distribution to the targeted categories, with the aim of relieving the weak categories in the society of the living burdens. Nasser Yousef Bin Houdeba, Manager of the Red Crescent Branch in Umm Al-Quwain stated that the initiative of the Zakat Fund of implementing the "Read" Project comes within the strong and continuous efforts of humanitarian partnership in coordination with the Red Crescent Authority, pointing out the importance of the project for enriching humanitarian work on the local level by offering more support.

The hotline received a call from the Zakat Fund in Abu Dhabi, to help (Umm Habayeb) pay the tuition fees for her daughter who has special needs, after publishing her story in El-Emarat El-Youm Newspaper a few days ago. She explained that she could not afford payment of the fees for her daughter who is in need of mental rehabilitation.

The Zakat Fund Signs a Memorandum of Understanding with Al Hilal Bank for the Electronic Collection of Zakat
Source: The Zakat Fund Media 21/2/2010 The Zakat Fund and Al-Hilal Bank signed a memorandum of understanding at the Bank's head office in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday for the electronic collection of Zakat through the Bank's electronic channels, which the bank's customers desire to use for paying Zakat to the Fund. The MoU was signed by Jamal Al-Mazru'i, Manager of the Department of Zakat Revenues and Information for the Zakat Fund and Muhammad Jamil Barro, the CEO of Al-Hilal Bank.
Jamal Al-Mazru'i stated: This agreement with Al-Hilal Bank comes within the objectives of the Fund to facilitate the payment of Zakat and make it available to the Zakat payers, and the excellent performance pursued by the Fund in the service of Zakat, as Al-Hilal Bank is one of the strong banks in the UAE which presents distinct services through a range of branches throughout the UAE.
During Its First Meeting The Legal Committee of the Zakat Fund Discussed the Developments of the Fund's Projects
Source: The Zakat Fund's Media 17/2/2010 The Legal Committee of the Zakat Fund held its first meeting for 2010 at the headquarters of the Zakat Fund in Abu Dhabi, headed by Sheikh/ Dr. Muhammed Abdul-Rahim Sultan Al-Ulama, and the membership of Dr. Ahmed Abdul-Aziz Al-Haddad, Dr. Mustafa Abdel-Aziz Khalid, Dr. Hassan Muhammad Al-Marzouqi, Sheikh Alidali Wild Mohamedou, Sheikh Taleb Muhammed Al-Shehhi; and Sheikh Muhammed Sulayman Al-Ballushi, for discussing the latest developments of the Fund's projects, and giving the legal opinion concerning some special cases of those who applied to the Fund. The meeting also discussed several proposed issues including the legal status of Zakat payment in blood money cases, and the Committee did not approve that matter.
The Zakat Fund Honors the Organizational Excellence Team
Source: The Zakat Fund Media 14/2/2010 HE Abdullah Bin Oqeidah Al-Muheiry, Secretary-General of the Zakat Fund honored the members of the organizational excellence team from among the Fund's staff members, for achieving high rates according to the standards of excellence, in the context of the Zakat Fund preparation for Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award. Al-Muheiry stated: We are keen in the Zakat Fund to honor all the hard-working people within the framework of the motivation policy we follow, which has a great effect on the staff performance, and increasing the individual's production output, which is an aspect of the excellence of the Fund. He pointed out that all the staff members participate in the process of excellence which we have started in the Fund since its inception, and our participation in the Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award is the culmination of those efforts. Our participation necessitated forming a work group to organize and arrange files in accordance with the rules organizing the award.
The Delegation of Awqaf and Minors Affairs Reviews the Zakat Calculation Systems and Collection System in the Fund

The Zakat Fund Establishes the Role of the Zakat Duty in Development
The Zakat Fund is a federal authority which was founded five years ago for the purpose of enhancing Zakat awareness and establishing the concept of its effectiveness and importance in the development field for both the individual and the community. Two weeks ago, the Fund held its tenth session on the applied aspects of Zakat jurisprudence and accounting, for the first time in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, with the objective of disseminating Zakat awareness among community members, as one of the most important roles through which the Zakat Fund seeks to revive the Zakat duty.

The Zakat Fund Offers Support to a Distressed Family

In response to the news published yesterday in Al-Bayan concerning the family of a citizen in Ras Al-Khaimah whose house's ceiling fell down and the difficult situation experienced by that family, the Zakat Fund took over the family case and formed a special committee with the purpose of providing the necessary immediate support.
Abdullah Bin Oqeidah Al-Muheiry, Secretary-General of the Zakat Fund stated: Due to the difficult conditions experienced by the family, the Zakat Fund decided to take over the case immediately and formed a committee to estimate the size of support required for the family, which consists of 14 members.

The Zakat Fund Seeks to Know the Opinions of Supplying Companies The Department of Human Resources and Services of the Zakat Fund in Abu Dhabi, held a meeting with the representatives of supplying companies dealing with the Fund. This comes in the context of improving the services and removing any obstacles in the way of mutual cooperation, and knowing their opinions and suggestions concerning the requirements of the coming period, in the framework of the Fund's policy of institutional excellence. The Minister of Justice Reviews the Preparations of the Zakat Fund for Participating in the Sheik Khalifah Award for Excellence
HE Dr. Hadif Bin Jaw'n Al-Dhahiri, Minister of Justice, Chairman of the Zakat Fund Board of Directors, visited the headquarters of the Fund in Abu Dhabi to review the Fund's work and preparations for participating in the Sheikh Khalifa Award for Governmental Excellence. Dr. Al-Dhahiri praised the work efforts in the Zakat Fund and the significant progress in the preparations for participating in the Sheikh Khalifa Award for Governmental Excellence, and valued the work efforts in the new building of the Zakat beneficiaries' with its new preparations for receiving the Zakat beneficiaries and the procedures of facilitating communication with the Fund.
HE Abdullah Bin Oqeidah Al-Muheiry, Secretary General of the Zakat Fund held a meeting with the beneficiaries of Zakat at the headquarters of the Fund in Abu Dhabi, in the context of the Fund's preparation of the plan of 2011 -2013 to know their opinions and suggestions about the requirements for the coming period. The meeting was attended by a large number of beneficiaries from among the citizens and non-citizens of various nationalities.

The three people, Abu Ebeid, Ali, and Faiza cannot afford the costs of treatment besides their difficult financial and living circumstances due to the financial crises.
