The seed sown by the late/Sheikh Zayid Bin Sultan Al-Nahayyan, may Allah have mercy on him, has grown and become a tree whose shade extends to protect all the needy and helpless people in our homeland. Three years have passed since the foundation of the Zakat Fund, during which we found out that the Zakat duty is present in the minds of the people of the UAE who maintain their deep-rooted traditions.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Qasim Salim Al-Tahir, the Head of the Department of Students’ Activities, Mrs. Fatimah Sultan Al-Yabhuni, Manager of the Department of Zakat Beneficiaries in the Fund, Sheikh Muhammad Sulayman Al-Ballushi, Head of the Legal Office of the Zakat Fund, and a number of officials and employees in the Fund.

Last week, the Zakat Fund participated in the meeting of the team of training in the agencies of Zakat in the GCC states, which was held in Riyadh, the headquarters of the General Secretariat. Mr. Nabil Ahmad Al-Bu'ainayn, Manager of the Human Resources and Services Department, participated in the meeting by approving a program of developing and simplifying methods and measures of work; the training program to be hosted by the Zakat Fund in the UAE next month.

The Zakat Fund Board of Directors Approves the Plans and Programs of the Fund and Reviews Work Progress

His Excellency, Rashid Bin Dimas, Vice Chairman of the Zakat Fund, presided over the first meeting of the Board of Directors for 2007 in the new headquarters of the Fund at Musharraf region. His Excellency, Abdullah Bin Oqeidah Al-Muheiry, General Secretary of the Zakat Fund and members of Board of Directors attended the meeting, and the Board reviewed and approved the plans and programs of the Fund, derived from the five-year strategic plan of the Fund 2006 – 2011, approved last year. This strategic plan includes the Fund’s administrative foundation plan and programs, involving development of the organizational structure and the job description, in addition to setting and developing regulations, systems, and the program of administrative, financial, and accounting system, as well as the program of Zakat beneficiaries.

The revenues of the Fund reached 67 million dirhams despite its recentness in providing the services of Zakat.

The same course has been followed by His Highness, Sheikh Khalifah Bin Zayid Al-Nahayyan, President of the UAE, may Allah protect him."
