Al-Muheiry: Our Services are Provided for the First Time in the UAE
Source: Al-Ittihad Newspaper, Sunday, 16/05/2010 This year, the Zakat Fund initiated one of the important new projects in the State on the Zakat work level within the framework of its strategic plan, under the name “University Students Project” to offer university scholarships for 50 students from among the children of citizens and residents living in the UAE. A four-year grant will cost 250 thousand dirhams, in which case, according to our operational plan based on our strategic plan, the expenses of fifty grants to fifty students for four years will amount to 10 million dirhams, besides the differences caused by students attending five-year program faculties, which makes the final budget of five groups of students 62.0005 million thousand dirhams. The Zakat Fund, the federal government foundation, the tradition of generosity founded by the late/Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and the development process led by the UAE leader, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, may Allah protect him, presents a charitable social project proving that it is a source of security and well-being for all those living on the land of prosperity, the United Arab Emirates.
A Course on "The Art of Dealing with Others" Organized at the Zakat Fund
Source: Zakat Fund Media, 13/5/2010 The Zakat Fund organized a training course under the title: "The Art of Dealing with Others" with the participation of a large number of the Fund staff to develop their performance, and it was held over five days at the Zakat Fund headquarters in Abu Dhabi, and managed by trainer Hesham Muhammad Ali, the Fund Media Coordinator. Abdullah Bin Oqeidah Al-Muheiry, Secretary General of the Zakat Fund stated: We are paying special attention to the human resources, because they are an invaluable asset that must be developed through the courses focusing on self-development and improvement with a view to providing the best services, and enhancing our staff's performance. Al-Muheiry also pointed out that the course on the art of dealing with others aims to enhance the services provided to the Fund's clients including the beneficiaries and Zakat payers, and adopt the best ways of dealing with others, as we are distinguished by our good treatment and quality in service delivery.
The Zakat Fund Honors the Organizational Excellence Team
HE Abdullah Bin Oqeidah Al-Muheiry, Secretary-General of the Zakat Fund honored the members of the organizational excellence team from among the Fund's staff members, for achieving high rates according to the standards of excellence, in the context of the Zakat Fund preparation for Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award. Al-Muheiry stated: We are keen in the Zakat Fund to honor all the hard-working staff members within the framework of the motivation policy we follow, which has a great effect on the staff performance, and on increasing the individual's output, as an aspect of the Fund's excellence. He also pointed out that all the staff members participate in the process of excellence which started in the Fund since its foundation, and that participation in the Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award is the culmination of those efforts. Our participation necessitated forming a work group to organize and arrange files in accordance with the Award rules.

Al-Muheiry: The Fund Collected 2.6 Million Dirhams from Outside the UAE for Distribution to the Zakat Recepients
Abdullah Bin Oqeidah Al-Muheiry, Secretary-General of the Zakat Fund called on the state’s well-off people to pay Zakat and charity, pointing out that their Zakat base amounts to billions of dirhams. Al-Muheiry also explained that there is a gap between the amounts of Zakat collected and the number of potential Zakat payers in the UAE, pointing out that such Zakat amounts can help eliminate poverty in the State. He added that Zakat is an unavoidable duty and all those who possess the minimum amount liable to Zakat should hasten to pay Zakat to be able to feel the grace Allah conferred on them.
One Million Dirhams Offered by the Zakat Fund to the Insolvent Debtors
Source: The Zakat Fund Media, 04/05/2010 The regular meeting between the Fund and the delegation of the Ministry of Interior was held at the Zakat Fund at Abu Dhabi to monitor and evaluate the performance under the agreement signed between the two parties as concerning offering help to the insolvent debtors. Muhammad Sulayman Al-Ballushi, Manager of the Zakat Beneficiaries Department received the delegation of the Ministry of Interior which comprised Dr. Colonel Yusuf Rashid Al-Humaidi, Lt. Col. Saeed Al-Zouaydi, and Lieutenant Abdul-Jalil Ismail Ahmed, and a joint meeting was held to evaluate the previous phase of the cooperation in the insolvent debtors' project during 2009. Al-Ballushi provided a detailed explanation about the amount of aid provided, which amounted to more than one million dirhams offered to 49 cases.
Response: The Zakat Fund Alleviates Suad's Suffering

The Zakat Fund in Abu Dhabi alleviated Suad's suffering by paying the school fees for her children, which amounted to 20254 dirhams (Emarat Al-Yom newspaper published her story a few days ago.) Suad is an Egyptian (50 years) living in Al-Ain and she has six children. Her husband was their breadwinner but a few months ago his service was terminated because he suffered from hepatitis.
The Zakat Fund Offers Three Million and 287 Thousand Dirhams of Assistance to Students
Within its plan for the second quarter of 2010, the Zakat Fund continues to provide assistance, within the project (Read), to alleviate the suffering of needy students, as it offered about three million and 287 thousand dirhams to the educational Zones and charities to pay the school fees for the needy students this year. At the Fund's headquarters in Abu Dhabi, Muhammad Sulayman Al-Ballushi, Director of the Zakat Beneficiaries Department, presented a check with the value of 189,700 dirhams to the Western Educational Zone, a check with the value of 69100 dirhams to Sharjah Education Zone, and a check with the value of 406,648 dirhams to Ajman Zone, as part of the project (Read) sponsored by the Zakat Fund under the channel of the poor and needy.
The Delegation of «Social Services» Reviews the Zakat Fund Services and Programs
Source: Al-Ittihad Newspaper, p. 6, Thursday, April 22nd, 2010 A delegation from the Department of Social Services in Sharjah, visited the Zakat Fund at Abu Dhabi to become familiar with the Fund programs and services provided to beneficiaries within the framework of interest in sharing services and communication channels with the Fund. The delegation members were received by Muhammed Sulayman Al-Ballushi, Director of the Zakat Beneficiaries Department and a number of the Fund staff members. During the visit, the work system in the Fund and the programs and services provided to beneficiaries were explained to them, and they were informed of the Electronic Archiving System of cases as well as the systems of customer service and all-inclusive employee.
The Zakat Fund and Umm Al Quwain Charity Provide Support to an Elderly Woman

Al-Bayan received a number of phone calls from the a number of agencies, charities, and charitable people from all the Emirates in response to what was published yesterday concerning an elderly Qatari woman, who undergoes deplorable living conditions, as she is a sick woman who cannot move and who lives in a collapsing house, with a view to supporting her, and improving her life conditions. Some of these were the Zakat Fund in Abu Dhabi and Umm Al Quwain Charity, which declared that they were ready to ensure her a decent life and undertake the necessary maintenance works for her house after the studying her case, and they sent their representatives for preparing reports on her case as soon as possible.
The Revenues of the Zakat Fund Rise to 93% During 2010 First Quarter

HE Abdullah Bin Oqeidah Al-Muheiry, Secretary-General of the Zakat Fund stated: Thanks to Allah, this is due to the Zakat payers trust in the Fund, and the transparency we adopt through the periodic reports we announce to the Zakat payers with their different categories to inform them of Fund's expenses and its charitable and social projects throughout the UAE.
The Zakat Fund Concludes its Eleventh Course on the Zakat Jurisprudence and Accounting

The Zakat Fund Organizes the Course of the Zakat Jurisprudence and Accounting

Today, at the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies in Abu Dhabi, the eleventh course on the applied contemporary aspects of Zakat jurisprudence and accounting will be organized by the Zakat Fund in coordination with the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies in Abu Dhabi and will be broadcast live on the Fund's website over four days. HE Abdullah bin Oqeidah Al-Muheiry, Secretary-General of the Zakat Fund stated: Through such courses, we aim to develop Zakat awareness among the members of the society, as the present course is attended by a constellation of the various public and private state financial and business institutions interested in learning how to calculate Zakat on their wealth.
The Zakat Fund continues to provide assistance within the project "Reward and Recovery" for the patients plan of the first quarter of 2010. Jamal Khalaf Al-Mazru'i, Manager of the Department of Zakat Revenues and Information; and Muhammad Sulayman Al-Ballushi, Manager of the Zakat Beneficiaries Department, offered a check with the value of 244 thousand dirhams to patients at Khalifa Hospital in Ajman as part of the project "Reward and Recovery", and handed it to Ahmed Khaled Al-Shayba, the public relations manager at the hospital. Within the same project another check with the value of 273 thousand dirhams was offered to Al-Ihsan Medical Charity and was handed to Dr. Ismail Hakki, Manager of the Medical Center.
