His Excellency Abdullah Bin Oqeidah Al-Muheiri, the General Secretary of the Zakat Fund received a group of female students from Al-Manhal International School, during their visit to the Fund.
Twenty female students from Al-Manhal International School presented charity to the Fund to be distributed to the poor and the needy.
During the visit, the students listened to a simple explanation about the duty of Zakat and its impact on the development of the society, and creating compassion and cordiality among the society members, and were made familiar with the pioneering role of the Fund in reviving the Zakat neglected duty.
The Zakat Fund Presents 700 Thousand Dirhams to the Knowledge Authority
Within the "Read" project, initiated by the Zakat Fund, for the purpose of helping poor students, the Fund presented 700 thousand dirhams to the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai to contribute to payment of their school fees.

Beit Al-Kheir Society honors the charitable efforts of the Zakat Fund
Abdeen Taher Al-Awadi, Deputy Manager of Administrative Affairs of Beit Al-Kheir Society has honored the Zakat Fund in Abu Dhabi, represented in Abdullah Bin Oqeidah Al-Muheiry, General Secretary of the Fund for the Fund's contribution during the last period represented in supporting 160 families registered in Beit Al-Kheir Society.
Al-Awadi said: It is important to honor charitable partners topped by the Zakat Fund due to their contributions. The Fund has spared no effort in providing assistance and help to the needy people, and we have informed the needy families of the entity providing the assistance.
The revenues of the Zakat Fund in 5 years reached one hundred and fifty eight million dirhams
The total revenues of the Zakat Fund over the past five years, since the foundation of the Fund, reached 158 million, 31 thousand, and 922 dirhams. The Fund suffers from a shortage of human resources as it has lost more than 50% of its qualified cadres due to poor salaries in the local bodies and ministries. However, the Fund approved unprecedented technology for the calculation of Zakat and disbursing it to beneficiaries, through ATM machines which will be soon installed in all the commercial centers and societies to facilitate Zakat distribution.
The Zakat Fund provides one million and nine hundred thousand dirhams to the different educational districts in the UAE and values the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Muhammad Bin Zayed
In materialization of the Fund's strategy of local social work, and in continuation of the project Iqra' launched by the Fund in 2005 to improve the standard of living of the Zakat recipients, yesterday morning at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi, the Zakat Fund presented checks with the value of one million and nine hundred thousand dirhams to Abu Dhabi, Al-Gharbiya , Fujairah and Umm Al-Quwain educational districts, and the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai, Sharjah the East Branch, to be distributed to 1067 students for the payment of school fees.

The Zakat Fund held its fifth final meeting for 2008 at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi, under the chairmanship of His Excellency Dr. Hadif Bin Jaw'an Al-Dhahiry, Minister of Justice and Chairman of the board of directors, where he briefed the board on the achievements of the Fund according to the operational plan of the Fund's strategic objectives.
The board praised the special visit paid by His Highness Sheikh Muhammad Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, the Vice-President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai to the Fund's wing at GITEX Exhibit, where he reviewed the first ATM designed for the acceptance and disbursement of Zakat, and praised the role of the Fund and its continuous development for the service of the Zakat duty.

The Zakat Fund launched two specialized courses in Abu Dhabi and Al-Ain, as part of the Fund's strategic plans to spread Zakat awareness in the society. Within the strategic plan of the Zakat Fund for improving the standard of living of the deserving and needy categories, and in materialization of the operational annual plan through the "patients' welfare" project, a delegation from the Zakat Fund board of directors, headed by His Excellency Mr. Ahmad Al-Khatiri and His Excellency Abdullah Al-Yamahi, the board members paid visits to a number of hospitals in the UAE Northern Emirates in order to alleviate the patients' suffering. Abu Dhabi Friday, December 12, 2008 Zayid al-Dakheel: The Zakat Fund Disbursement Committee decided to distribute 8 million dirhams to beneficiaries, according to Jamal Khalaf Al-Mazrou'i, Manager of the Department of the Zakat Resources and Information. During its recent meeting chaired by Abdullah Oqeidah Al-Muheiry, General Secretary of the Zakat Fund, the Committee decided to distribute said amounts to students, Humayd Bin Rashid Orphanage, the "Iqra (read)" project, as well as a number of families and individual cases, the retired military personnel, and the people with special needs.

After mobile phones and the Internet, Zakat payment is now available through the ATMs
Tuesday, Shawwal 22, 1429 AH/ October 21, 2008 After the payment of Zakat through mobile phones and the Internet, the Zakat Fund launched the first service of its kind in the UAE and the whole region that enables the calculation and payment of Zakat in cash and by credit cards through the use of the special ATMs of the Fund, which will be available throughout the UAE very soon. This came during its participation in the Getex Exhibition at Dubai in 2008.
